The Patriot-News has streamlined the way we process news releases so that we can routinely get news onto our Web site, PennLive.com, and onto our daily e-mail newsletter, Know@Noon.
We also want to publish items in the paper much more quickly.
The following instructions are short and to the point, as a way to remove ambiguity, so we hope you read them with that spirit in mind. Please e-mail business news to the following addresses:
1. biztips@patriot-news.com: This is our main tip address for major news, such as layoffs, large job additions or a new business.
2. realestate@patriot-news.com: News about new leases or sales of commercial real estate. Example: XYZ Co. sold a building at (full address, township, county) to John Doe Co. Please say how the building will be used.
3. bizawards@patriot-news.com: News about industry awards. Note: We do not run items about degrees, professional designations or routine in-house awards. Example: Jane Doe has won the Blank Award. She works for XYZ Co. in (township, county, state).
4. bizpeople@patriot-news.com: News about new hires or promotions. Example: John Doe has been promoted to an associate at XYZ Co. He is project manager for widgets. He previously worked for ABC Inc.
5. bizevents@patriot-news.com: This is a calendar. Send items about three weeks before an event. We will consider free seminars or those of nominal cost, such as chamber of commerce events. We will not run information about for-profit seminars.
Please do not send us anything unless the tie to central Pennsylvania is clear. Other important points:
* We cannot respond to individual e-mail. Please monitor the paper to see when an announcement runs.
* We cannot promise when something will run.
* Feel free to send an electronic photo, in JPEG or TIFF files of 200 dpi or better. We will run photos if we have space.
* Make sure you provide contact information.
* Because of limited staffing time, we cannot promise to process routine news releases sent by land mail. Your best bet is to use the addresses above.
As always, thanks for your support and your news tips.
Reporters, who are always looking for trend stories or news on their beats, publish their e-mail addresses at the end of articles they write.
